Freedom of Information requests

The Freedom of Information Act gives the public the right to know what information Essex Fire Authority and Essex County Fire and Rescue Service publish and to see copies of that information. You can also request information that is not routinely published.

We must supply this information within 20 working days, if we cannot do this, we will tell you why.

If you still wish to submit a Freedom of Information request, please ensure that you:

• Provide a clear and understandable request with enough detail to identify and locate the information;
• Your name and address (including email address) so we can respond to your request; and
• An indication about the form in which you want the information.

This will ensure that your application is dealt with as quickly as possible. Some documents may include exempt information and subject to Data Protection Act 1998, so you will only get the information which is not exempt. You only have the right to information and not necessarily to documents.
