Thank you Thursday: Fire Service gives a BIG thank you to everyone who donated t
This #ThankyouThursday Joanna Lisowska-Dyer, Fire Safety Officer at Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, wants to thank everyone who supported the collection at Great Baddow Fire Station for refugees fleeing the conflict in Ukraine.
Joanna started the collection on Monday, 28 February after getting in touch with contacts she has in the Polish Fire Service who were appealing for essential items that they could distribute at the Polish border.
In just under two weeks, the Service collected 750 boxes of donations at Great Baddow Fire Station. From nappies and wipes to tinned food and pet food, the Service was overwhelmed with the support from Essex residents, businesses and colleagues.
All donations that could not be sent like clothing and food was donated locally.
Joanna said: “I am touched by the kindness and generosity of our residents, businesses and my ECFRS colleagues who supported this collection. Your donations will make such difference to people who escaped the war.
“The Ukrainian collection is our joint success and we managed to gather more than 750 boxes of essential items for refugees and their beloved pets, who fled Ukraine.
“As well as thanking the many many residents who generously donated goods, I’d like to shout of the below schools and businesses who kindly started their own collections for us:
