Reassuring the community after major fire in Harwich
Firefighters and community safety officers will be in Harwich this week, providing reassurance and safety advice to residents following the recent fire.
Crews from Dovercourt Fire Station and officers from our Community Safety Team will be at The Quay from 10am to 3pm on Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 July. They will be offering safety advice and discussing any concerns residents may have as a result of the fire in Church Street on Tuesday 14 June, which sadly destroyed two buildings and left two families homeless.
Dovercourt Station Manager Jason Gould said: “We’ll be giving out general home fire safety advice as well as talking about the importance of having smoke alarms. As we’ll be near the Ha’penny Pier at The Quay we will be encouraging people to think about water safety too. Our on-call firefighters were first on the scene to this incident and did a great job working alongside our colleagues from across the Service. We are recruiting for firefighters and if people are interested in stepping up to help keep their communities safe why not use this as an opportunity to pop along and see us to find out more.”
More details about the incident are available on our website.
Our safety advice is also available here including information on how you can book a free home fire safety visit.
