Our Fleet Services team have been named Employer of the Year!

Congratulations to our Fleet Services team who have be named Employer of the Year in a national awards.

Matthew Parsons, Assistant Engineering Manager, and Ray Thomas, Workshop Manager, received the trophy on behalf of the team at the Society of Operations Engineers' Safety and Sustainability Awards in Birmingham yesterday.

Our Fleet Services team, based in Lexden, Colchester, impressed the judges with its commitment to personal development.

Matthew said: "The award is thanks to the entire team. People are dedicated to maintaining their skills, getting involved in training and improving themselves and our Service.

"We have an apprenticeship scheme, but it wouldn't work if we didn't have people who take the time to teach and nurture those apprentices.

"It's nice to get national recognition; it's a very proud moment for everyone at Fleet Services."

Fleet Services has 46 colleagues, including three who have 40-plus years’ experience, and it runs an apprenticeship programme.

It has a number of accreditations that very few public bodies hold.

It has held Investors in People accreditation and International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO9001:2015) quality standard for more than 20 years.

Its Workshop section and 15 of its Workshop technicians are accredited by the Institute of Road Transport Engineers.

In addition, its supervisors are trained to Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency inspection standard.

The team is responsible for more than 430 vehicles and 15,000 pieces of equipment.
