Living safe and well at home, ECFRS offers home fire safety advice
The cost of living is rising across the country but Essex County Fire and Rescue Service is urging people to still take fire safety precautions in their home to make sure they stay safe.
The advice comes as part of the National Fire Chiefs Council (NFCC) national Home Fire Safety Week campaign taking place this week.
The campaign aims to keep people safer in their homes by advising them of the simple things they can do to reduce the risk of fire in their homes. One of the best things to do is to book a free home fire safety visit from Essex County Fire and Rescue which will give people all the advice and tips they need as well as fitting free smoke alarms. Smoke alarms are proven life savers and every home should have one fitted on every floor.
Will Newman, Essex County Fire and Rescue Service’s Head of Prevention, said: “As the cost of living increases across the entire UK, in Essex we are offering help and advice to help people stay safer in their homes. This ranges from simple steps such as smoke detection and checking electrical items, to how we can assist people who are more vulnerable.
“While we understand the pressures people are currently facing and affordability is a major factor for many, I am hoping that by giving practical help and advice, we can raise awareness and offer useful assistance.
“Prevention work is at the heart of all fire and rescue service work and we are here to help.”
Will added: “As a Service, we offer free home visits to any Essex resident. If you do not have working smoke alarms, or have working smoke alarms but would like more information about how to live safely and securely at home, book one of our free visits today.”
