Fire Service welcomes seven on-call recruits
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service has welcomed seven new on-call firefighters after they completed their initial training and joined stations across the county.
The squad started their six-week basic training course in March, covering core skills that firefighters use in their roles such as using and lifting ladders, pumping water and rescuing casualties at road traffic collisions.
The firefighters, who will respond to incidents when paged while going about their daily business, will continue their training at their on-call fire stations.
They’ll be joining fire stations across the county at Dunmow, Halstead, Leaden Roding, Ongar, Saffron Walden and Waltham Abbey.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service has more than 500 on-call firefighters and most on-call fire stations are currently recruiting on-call firefighters.
If you live or work within 5 minutes of an on-call fire station, you could be paid to protect your community as an on-call firefighter. Find out more about the role at join.essex-fire.gov.uk/on-call
