Children of Essex, the fire service needs your best winter safety advice
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service is calling on the children of Essex to give their best safety advice to help everyone stay safe during the winter months.
The Service is holding a four-week competition for children across Essex to send in a poster, poem or a piece of art that gives winter safety advice to Essex residents.
Laura Moxley, Education Officer at Essex County Fire and Rescue Service said: “We’re calling on the children of Essex to help us share our winter safety messages in a fun and creative way.
“Whether it’s a poster, poem or a piece of art, we’re looking for the best safety advice to help everyone stay safe this winter.
“Whether it’s home fire safety advice to prevent fires at home, water safety advice or advice to stay safe while driving, we want your creative ideas to help keep Essex safe.”
The best poster, poem or piece of art will be proudly displayed in the winner’s local fire station and will be shared on Essex County Fire and Rescue Service’s website and social media channels.
Not only will the winning content be displayed in the local fire station, but the winner will also win a tour of their local fire station and will have the chance to meet their local firefighters.
The winner of the competition will be chosen by the Service’s Education Officers.
The team visits thousands of schoolchildren across Essex each year in collaboration with Essex Police to deliver safety advice to schools.
The team has created an online education hub for parents, carers and teachers to access safety lessons for children. You can access these lessons at essex-fire.gov.uk/education.
The competition opens on Thursday 9 December and will close on Thursday 6 January.
The winner will be notified by email on Monday, 10 January and announced on social media later that day.
To enter, please take a photo or scan your child’s poster, poem or piece of art and along with your child’s name, age and the town or village they live in, please email it to: mailbox.education@essex-fire.gov.uk
