Firefighters rescued a horse from a ditch in Waltham Abbey today.

On arrival, crews reported that the horse was trapped in the ditch and unable to stand up.

Using a hiab, firefighters from Waltham Abbey worked with specially trained animal rescue firefighters from Chelmsford and Great Baddow to lift the horse out of the ditch and she was able to stand up by herself.

The horse was left in the care of her owner.
