Protecting Fire Service Heritage

The Museum plays an important role in protecting local and national fire service heritage for the benefit of our children and future generations. 

It is also a valuable tool in promoting fire safety awareness through educational development programmes.  It is essential that friends, colleagues and the community at large remain vigilant to the need to protect our invaluable heritage. 

If anyone becomes aware of any fire service-associated items that may be of interest to the Museum, such as equipment, documents, photographs etc, which might otherwise be disposed of, without recognising the need to preserve them, please bring them to the attention of our team by emailing museum@essex-fire.gov.uk or calling Dan Bailey on 07710 953825.

Fire Heritage Network website

In 2004 the major fire museums, fire heritage collections and fire service enthusiast groups in the country met together to form a new network dedicated to the study and preservation of Britain’s proud fire service history.

Fire Heritage Network UK is not itself a museum, nor is it a society for collectors of memorabilia or old fire engines, or a club for “fire fans,” but it serves to bring together all those existing organisations within the sector, to provide mutual assistance and the ongoing promotion and encouragement of the topic.
